Personality is created by personal reality: now change

personality, self reflection, self-awareness, personal development, personal growth, personal identity, personal value, forming new habits, habit control, habits, habitual response, rewriting habits, create a lifestyle you love, create the life you want, how to create your perfect life, create a lifestyle you love, change is a daring adventure, change is inevitable, how to overcome resistance to change, individual resistance to change, knowledge does not change behaviour, people change, relationships change, take responsibility, thriving and growing in the face of change, willpower

Dr. Joe Dispenza (in You are the Placebo) mentions that “Your personality creates your personal reality.”

But I would argue that it goes both ways: your personality is also the result of your personal reality. We are the sum of our life experiences, situations and even traumas.

What is your personality?

“At its most basic, personality is the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique.” (Kendra Cherry)

Your personality is the sum of your thoughts, beliefs, emotional awareness and responses, and even your subconscious responses (such as the nervous system). Most of these responses can be tracked back to events that discovered this was the most valuable and resourceful response. Continue reading Personality is created by personal reality: now change

If you wanted to make life better, where would you start?

I recently listened to Ken Honda and Lewis Howes talk about abundance. Ken Honda made a fascinating observation on assets: tangible versus intangible.

This applies to your measurement of success as to your measure of wealth and abundance. What intangibles allow you to say that you are wealthy and successful?

  • great health and energy
  • wonderful family relationships
  • fun, adventures and hobbies
  • self-image and confidence
  • spiritual growth and wellbeing
  • personal achievements

What are your measurements of abundance and success? Are they an authentic reflection of everything you want in your life? Continue reading Make life better: how to live abundantly and authentically

Your authentic self: it takes courage to be vulnerable

your authentic self, authentic people, authentic person, authentically, authentically you, authenticity, be authentic, compassion and connection, courage, courageous action, creativity, demonstrate real authenticity, genuine authenticity, loving kindness, people-pleasing, practising loving-kindness, priorities, relationships change, self awareness, self compassion, truly authentic, vulnerable, what is important

In addition to needing compassion and creativity, you will need a healthy dose of courage if you want to live as your authentic self!

You know the science maxim: every action has an equal and opposite reaction? Or how about Newton’s first law of motion? An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion (same speed / same direction) unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Are you willing to live with greater vulnerability to show your authentic self in your words, decisions, and relationships? Continue reading Your authentic self: it takes courage to be vulnerable

Be authentic: consciously author your life with creativity

Most of us think of creativity as solely referring to artists: painters, musicians, writers, or even architects. They are so creative. I beg to differ. I believe that to be authentic requires that we each live from a place of creativity.

Grant Soosalu and Marvin Oka put it best in their book mBraining: creativity is the quality of consciousness from which you author your life. Continue reading Be authentic: consciously author your life with creativity

An authentic life requires compassion

an authentic life, you being you, living authentically, how to be authentic, compassion, creativity, courage to be yourself,

Living authentically seems to be a buzzword in so many circles – especially in the coaching world I live in! How do you live an authentic life?

To be authentic is to live with compassion and  integrity.

Integrity means more than honesty; it’s about wholeness and internal consistency.
You live in integrity when your actions and choices reflect your values, priorities and desires.
You live authentically when you compassionately listen to all aspects of yourself without ignoring any part of you.

Do your relationships reflect what is truly important to you or only what you think others will find acceptable and pleasing? Continue reading An authentic life requires compassion
